U'd be fine! The 450 and 700 are about the same just different styles of power. The 450 is all about top RPMS the 700 just has power all the time so its great for trails where the Tq is needed. Really the 450's only make a jump and then after that the 700 powers all the way through. Probably mostly due to the 1st gear being some what lower than the 1st gear of the 450's.

i take my kids to pismo a lot and i rent the 350s and thats plenty for me, i usually find a good spot to jump and never really reach top speed.

Humvee21 11-21-2012 02:45 AM

My Wolvie has the 450 and I love it. I do wish it had more power sometimes but if you're just trail riding the 450 is plenty!

actually not much more power, just more low end torque from what ive heard. but im no expert.

i think the 450 is around 40HP and the 700 around 45

nosbusa 11-21-2012 02:46 AM

We had one of those too. It was great for when you needed 4x4 but still wanted mostly a sport quad.

It's a great quad. I want a sport but I gotta trailer it about 1.5 - 3 hrs from here to find a nice track for it. The Wolverine is just the perfect balance between a sport and utility, IMO. I can pop it into 4x4 when I wanna look for trouble in deep mud, but I can also keep it in 2x4 when I find a nice track to ride on. 2006 Yamaha Wolverine 450. My favorite! Used to have a 1999? Yamaha Warrior and the first day I took it out I got stuck with that damn 2x4!

HAHA good thing with the lite sport quads is you can pull them out yourself. The bigger 4x4s you need help if you ever do get them stuck. We sold ours just due to the 700's got all the attention.

Back in KS where i grew up. We had a Polaris 6x6 400cc 2stroke. It would go through silt mud over the seat....... Trust me I know. We finally couldn't get it jumped out of the tracks and it took our 1 ton dodge to pull it out. Bent the winch plate it was in so bad. Still could go back and forth though :D

ISFast 11-21-2012 02:58 AM

If it was my car you would see it on ebay haha

nosbusa 11-21-2012 02:59 AM

ha! were you buried up to the handle bars? at some point common sense would kick in and say "stop pushing the throttle" haha

Sweet baby Jesus... Either the dodge is whimpy or the guy on the quad is a fatass :p
