My 2006 Polaris Outlaw 500

Well, picked it up today. so stoked for summer now.
since its a used quad, i'm going to do some things right off the bat before riding it to much. Oil change, air filter cleaning, fresh gas with seafoam etc.

short term upgrades will be nerf bars, and new tires.

first pic.

have fun. where do you plan to ride?

SBA800 04-20-2013 12:30 AM

will have tons of fun.

Mostly just going to ride the gravel roads and the ditches. Isnt really trails around here, theres a few gravel pits, but they may be operating this year, so those may be off limits.

nosbusa 04-20-2013 03:16 AM

any sand around?

SBA800 04-20-2013 10:11 AM

theres a few small areas of sand, nothing big. We do have some dunes here, but they are off limits to vehicles.... which is pretty fuckin gay.

might be able to find some larger areas of sand an hour or two away though. Never really looked into the riding areas yet.

nosbusa 04-20-2013 10:38 AM

get some paddles if you go to the sand.

SBA800 04-20-2013 11:03 AM

nah, not that much sand that paddles would be needed I dont think. wouldnt be worth the time it takes to swap tires

nosbusa 04-20-2013 10:50 PM

swap rims instead. its a whole lot faster. thats what im doing. got 3sets showing up next week. just in time for my pismo trip next week.

SBA800 04-21-2013 06:46 PM

still wouldnt be worth the time lol. not that much sand at all.

but, wont be riding it anywhere til lI can get that broken filter cover bolt out and replaced.

nosbusa 04-22-2013 02:33 AM

i hope that works out for you.

SBA800 04-22-2013 08:32 PM

new bolts ordered, local store didnt have the right size in stock.
should be here wed. or thurs.

found my dad extractor bit set. has one that should be small enough, so I shall attempt to get it out provided I can find a drill bit small enough to drill a pilot hole

SBA800 04-27-2013 08:39 PM

pulled all the stickers off that the previous owner put on. looks much better now.

pics from today. was riding around checking out all the flooded roads and fields.
couldnt get very far from my brothers since all the roads along the river were flooded and/or washed away.

http://i45.photobucket.com/albums/f5...psec008071.jpg

looks like a lake, but it aint haha

http://i45.photobucket.com/albums/f5...ps0b05fbd9.jpg

its like the damn rapids haha

http://i45.photobucket.com/albums/f5...ps3b26951c.jpg

this is just to the south of my brothers. its right up to the dike. another 1' and it would be flooding his yard.

Today:

we are so damn lucky we had about a month of slow melt. because if everything we had all melted at once like the past 2 days, we would be in huge trouble lol.

nosbusa 05-01-2013 08:04 AM

should of got a jet ski......

SBA800 05-02-2013 07:19 PM

no kidding. its slowly going down. most of the roads are passable now. So I will be riding this weekend for sure. few roads are pretty much completely washed out though, and theres one bridge thats close to floating away. so it should be interesting.

will ride all over and scout it out this weekend

SBA800 05-02-2013 10:46 PM

considering these for my next set of tires.

Kenda Kutter XC
reviews sound good. Buddy of mine from work has a TRX 700xx and hes getting some this weekend. so if he says he likes em, i'll probably get em.

SBA800 05-09-2013 05:19 PM

ok, have a video uploading for you folks.

also have this one. have a strange rattle sound the odd time. usually only in first gear, and mostly only happens when the bars are turned slightly to the right, while accelerating.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3IP2bE9iAOw

any thoughts? have posted on a polaris sport quad specific forum, so hopefully someone chimes in.

other video is uploading. stay tuned.

SBA800 05-09-2013 05:34 PM

and heres the other video

nosbusa 05-10-2013 12:46 AM

what bonehead takes out his own camera with a bunch of rocks hahaha. and wheres the helmet?

SBA800 05-10-2013 01:46 PM

lmao. didnt think I was lined up with the camera that good lmao.

and the helmet was 3 miles away at home. for some reason. Usually its in the truck but for some reason I took it out. that's why I didnt do what I really wanted to do, which was attempt jumping and wheelies. just did those donuts and back to the garage. I got some new video today though, WITH my helmet on. and failed attempts at jumping lol. gotta find a better spot.

SBA800 05-10-2013 06:32 PM

ok, here you go busa, there's the helmet

SBA800 05-10-2013 06:35 PM

alright, now to the bad news. the heat shield on the pipe was rattling, So I was taking it off, to check the mounting plates for cracks. as I was taking off one bolt, it snapped. fuckin thing. but, I did find the issue. and resolved it.

cept now it rattles due to missing one bolt to hold it on lmao.

also, I got a crack in the CV boot. its new, as it wasnt there before last weekend. joy joy

nosbusa 05-12-2013 01:17 AM

crap you are full of issues. so, you need a new __________. as far as jumping goes. you missed. i dont think that was the best spot, however you should have been able to do it. i dont think you were going fast enough.

SBA800 05-12-2013 12:50 PM

yeah it was a shitty spot. but the best spot there was in the area. theres a fence and a few power line poles in the way, so I cant really get much speed at all. not to mention the angle I have to hit it at puts me in a sketchy position for stopping. since theres a ditch right there. but, i had a bit of fun with it. thats what counts.

All i need is to patch the crack. either with clear silicone or a tire patch. the heat shield rattle wont hurt anything, so i'll just deal with that till i get my new exhaust.

nosbusa 05-13-2013 07:02 PM

i can see the headline now..... man found electrocuted while on his quad.....

SBA800 05-13-2013 09:43 PM

hahah dont laugh, it may happen

nosbusa 05-14-2013 01:21 AM

i will laugh until it happens..... then i might have to stop.....

SBA800 05-14-2013 08:33 PM

you will stop.... ask if im ok, then continue to laugh even harder than before haha

its all loaded up in the truck. going into my dealer tomorrow for a free recall that was never done. doesnt really need it as its been fine so far, but heck, its free so why not right. then i'll let my buddy take it, check/shim the valves and i'll be good to go for the summer.

SBA800 05-23-2013 11:35 PM

here, enjoy another video

nosbusa 05-29-2013 02:21 AM

i dont see any jumps.....

SBA800 05-29-2013 08:50 PM

well thats good, cause i never succeeded at trying to jump yet haha.

tank was to full last time i was out (cap screws on crooked, need a new one) so gas spills out. even wheelies it slops out

nosbusa 05-30-2013 12:12 AM

saran wrap and a rubber band......

SBA800 05-30-2013 12:46 AM

what a genius idea...

nosbusa 05-30-2013 04:39 AM

yes.... yes, i am......

i was going to pismo one time and one of our gas cans didnt have a lid, i had ro come up with something quick to seal it off so they wouldnt complain about the smell. (i didnt have the truck then) so i decided i would use my wifes hair rubber band and i grabbed some saran wrap and it worked pretty good. no gas came out, however the vapors did finally make its way out eventually.

SBA800 05-30-2013 07:25 PM

will have to try that next time im riding

Wilson 05-31-2013 11:06 PM

I'd filler up with e-30 and ride like a wild man

SBA800 05-31-2013 11:17 PM

haha well, I wouldnt. especially not this one since its got a carb

SBA800 06-19-2013 05:22 PM

NickPic83 06-19-2013 06:37 PM

Looking purdy

SBA800 06-19-2013 07:05 PM

i know right haha. if only it didnt have a busted boot!

hopefully the new one will be in late this week, or early next week so I can ride before my vacation.

then all I gotta worry about is the front shock.
found a good place to take it though, cheap. $60 to rebuild it.
