Default Commander Recal Alert
BRP recalls Commander for potential steering loss

Publish Date:
Jan 10, 2013

WASHINGTON, D.C. - In cooperation with the Consumer Product Safety Commission, BRP is recalling the Can-Am Commander due to the potential loss of steering control.
Improper assembly of the steering column to the rack and pinion is to blame.
The recall affects about 3,400 units. BRP has received three reports of loss of steering. No injuries have been reported.
The recall involves the 2011 Can-Am Commander 800, 1000, XT 800R and X 1000 models, as well as the 2012 Can-Am Commander 800, 1000, XT 800, X 1000 and Limited 1000 models.
Consumers are being advised to stop using the vehicles and contact a BRP dealer to schedule a free repair. BRP has notified registered consumers directly.
