Just bought a 2000 YZ426F

Picked up a "new" bike tonight; Like the title says it's a 426. I used to have an 01 that I bought new but was forced to sell while I was in the military, so it's nice to have my hands on one again. I got a smokin deal on it for $1000. It's got a HotCams YZ450 cam in it so it's just a kick and go kind of affair with it now, no more decompression lever or anything. Also it's got upgraded suspension from RG3. It feels a bit soft, but I only rode it for a few minutes too.

Anyhow here's some pictures:

aarons419 12-08-2012 07:59 AM

Damn you.....damn you noah. lol

I see you've been busy. All the threads have you as the last poster...guess that means I'm up to bat now.

SBA800 12-08-2012 10:12 AM

dang that is a good deal! nice looking bike to.

nosbusa 12-08-2012 03:15 PM

i gotta keep up with you..... the new post whore....

let us know how the new bike runs. dont forget the mods for pismo

aarons419 12-08-2012 03:39 PM

Will do, we're going to take the bikes out in a couple of hours to go play for a bit. Hopefully my daughter gets the hang of it and is able to putt around a bit. Tried to convince the wife to come to so she can babysit while i stretch my bike's legs, but she was having none of it.

So far the "fix it" list is pretty short

- New radiator shrouds/number plates, front/rear fenders
- Replace the chain and sprockets
- Put some new grips on
- Set the shock sag and other suspension settings up for me.

nosbusa 12-09-2012 04:47 AM

not to bad. a couple of small minor mods to do

aarons419 12-09-2012 09:16 AM

Yep, they all add up to less than one Raptor mod too, that's the funny part. My wife is sold on me modding the dirt bike just on that one point.

nosbusa 12-09-2012 05:55 PM

lucky you. my wife wont let me do anything

aarons419 12-13-2012 07:54 PM

I just switch the hobby that I'm spending money on every time she stops me from spending it on one. So now that the Raptor mod tap has been turned off, I'll just turn on the dirt bike one. Then probably move to snowboarding for a bit before coming back to one of the previous ones.

nosbusa 12-14-2012 02:47 AM

mod whore......

aarons419 12-14-2012 01:04 PM

Yup, but I can admit that over here and my wife won't see it.

NickPic83 12-14-2012 09:47 PM

i am with u bro. raptor is done for a bit until i can save for the big mods i want. so i am doing some cheap mods to the daily and doing a lift and springs on the RZR. i cant quit modding cold turkey.....

nosbusa 12-15-2012 11:04 AM

mod update........

aarons419 12-17-2012 09:24 PM

Picked up a new set of clutch plates and springs for it yesterday, should be in friday. My clutch is teh suck right now.

I had it out for a few hours yesterday and it ran like a top other than the damned clutch.

I also need a new rear tire as mine is losing air between rides. lol.

Hmm...no auto resize here eh?

nosbusa 12-17-2012 10:53 PM

small price to pay for the deal you got. i hope thats the only fixing you have to do to it

aarons419 12-17-2012 10:56 PM

Yeah can't wait to get the clutch in. I'm just going to leave the tire as is for now and probably put two new ones on it when I get home next time.

nosbusa 12-17-2012 11:16 PM

fix a flat

aarons419 12-18-2012 10:55 AM

Nope, I won't put that junk in my tires because it just makes the bike shop hate me when its time to change my tire.

nosbusa 12-18-2012 11:52 AM

bubblegum?

aarons419 12-18-2012 12:37 PM

Free air at the gas station on the corner is doing the job for now, lol.

nosbusa 12-19-2012 02:24 AM

well it should be free, considering at 13 mpg your truck has to do all the hauling.......

aarons419 12-19-2012 10:10 AM

I agree, it's kind of a dick move to charge for air. I will say this for sure, if your gas station has free air, I'm damn sure going to be picking it a lot more than the one up the street that charges me $1 to inflate a dirt bike tire (20-30 seconds of air). So by that simple fact alone I'll probably be buying more gas and more stuff out of the store there.

NickPic83 12-19-2012 09:39 PM

i agree. i can only think of one place by me that still has free air. all those other bastards charge

aarons419 12-19-2012 11:26 PM

I remember growing up that every gas station in town had free air. Now it's a rarity.

On topic, my EBC clutch kit comes in Friday so I'll probably install it over the weekend.

nosbusa 12-20-2012 02:35 AM

and the turbo?

nosbusa 12-20-2012 02:36 AM

oh yeah, air is expensive....... the reason, supply and demand...... there just isnt enough air for everyone

aarons419 12-20-2012 09:50 AM

Well with all the oxygen thieves we have in the world today I guess I understand why its expensive.

nosbusa 12-21-2012 03:12 AM

reminds me of a joke....... probably not appropriate though....... (stereotype, slightly racist)

aarons419 12-28-2012 12:22 AM

Just bought a spark arrestor for the bike. It's made by Pro Moto Billet. Much cheaper solution than getting a new muffler. Looks like the install will be pretty easy too.

Here's a pic of what it looks like.

nosbusa 12-28-2012 11:32 AM

glad it was a cheap fix for you.

NickPic83 12-28-2012 08:29 PM

nice cheap fix and it looks cool too

aarons419 12-28-2012 09:21 PM

Ok quick pic of the finished product. I really like how it turned out and it was pretty easy to do. I'm going to write it up in a separate thread so it's not buried in case other people actually want to use this same solution.

NickPic83 12-28-2012 11:33 PM

thats so purdy

aarons419 12-30-2012 11:59 AM

Thanks, hopefully I can go bolt it on today and try it out.

NickPic83 12-30-2012 09:10 PM

any pics of it installed?

aarons419 12-30-2012 09:22 PM

I ended up staying in and playing Madden 13 all day since it's cold out and didn't want to take my daughter out and get her sick or something, so I haven't even installed it yet, lol.

Slacking I know...

NickPic83 12-30-2012 09:23 PM

madden is addiciting.....
